    What is WRONG?
    « on: September 04, 2011, 09:05:22 AM »
     ???

A friend of mine had, while trying to learn computer hardware, had entered cmd from windows 7 and thereafter entered as under cmd +  and some password and then entered. Due to this, he lost his access to the computer because it simply keeps asking for password.

He could not explain to me the correct thing he entered but some thing like  "cmd+...".   How to come out of it?

Thanks to all who try to understand my problem and try to solve it.

Thank you, Mr. Transfusion. I shall ask him (who is at some distance) to check pressing Ctrl+C

Yes, Mr. Linux711 - It was net user and he entered a command like this    C:\net user + (i.e. after he entered a plus sign, he inadvertantly pressed the enter button).

      Rgds & Thanks

...a rather ingenious "help me crack a password" type thread? It's always a "friend" or "the kids"...

he entered a command like this    C:\net user + (i.e. after he entered a plus sign, he inadvertantly pressed the enter button).

This would just cause an error.

      C:\>net use +
      System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.

Burn to CD, change boot order, get in.

If you need help with booting a CD, google has plenty of info.

I don't believe that link should be there. We have rules about password cracking help.

This would just cause an error.

      Code: [Select]
      Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
      (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

      C:\>net use +
      System error 67 has occurred.

The network name cannot be found.

well the alleged command was net user +, but that still causes an error anyway:

      Code: [Select]
      C:\>net user +
The syntax of this command is:

      NET USER
      [username [password | *] [options]] [/DOMAIN]
               username {password | *} /ADD [options] [/DOMAIN]
               username [/DELETE] [/DOMAIN]
               username [/TIMES:{times | ALL}]

And makes no changes to passwords or otherwise.
The OP is providing too many falsifiable confabulations for me to honestly believe they are being truthful in the problem or what they are trying to "fix".

My thanks to all participants for their kind advice/ guidance given on the above subject.  Unfortunately, the computer is down. I shall try the suggestion(s) when the same is repaired.

Meanwhile, let me thank you all once again.

          falsifiable confabulations

           ???
          confabulation
          noun
          1. the act of confabulating; conversation; discussion.
          2. Psychiatry . the replacement of a gap in a person's memory by a falsification that he or she believes to be true.

Yes, I had to dictionary.com you because you used too many big words hurt my small brain ow....

Wouldn't it be easier to say I don't believe that's the real problem? That won't hurt my head as much either...

No, because I would have to make a conscious effort to use small words. I like to use various words that I learn as often as possible to increase my vocabulary. Also, it prevents me from saying the same thing- I don't like to repeat myself.

That is to say, I don't like to repeat myself.

And either way whether what I type hurts your head either literally or figuratively isn't something that I am apt to consider.
