Recommending newegg as well. If I were you, I would avoid purchasing hardware from eBay as well; sometimes they sell hardware parts very cheap, but it's the condition and warranty that actually matters.

Noting where you are in this wide, wide, world, would be appropriate when asking a question like yours.

Telling you to go down the street to "Jacks Computers, Orlando, FL" would be pretty stupid if you're in Australia.  Eh?

Even getting something Mail Order from the US to UK or AU can get VERY pricey.

So first off, Where Are You?  and what are you wanting to buy?

After years of getting burned by mail order companies, I've pretty well settled on Tiger Direct and "Computer Geeks".
They both have good products, with fast service and reasonable shipping costs.  And both take "Pay Pal" for payment.
Tiger Direct also owns all the old "Comp USA" stores, so if there's one within driving distance of you, shopping in the store can be better than buying over the internet.


I have to place an order at least once a week, so I have quite a bit of experience with Mail Order.
For RAM memory, I deal ONLY with "Crucial.com".

I think your usage of terminology is incorrect.  "mail order" means placing an order through regular mail, not on a website.  The fact that an online order is sent through the mail does not make it a "mail order".  So, your comment about "getting burned by mail order companies" does not apply here since the discussion is focused on online sources, not mail orders.

Exactly what website is "Computer Geeks"?  While I agree Tiger Direct is a good online source, I believe the other sources mentioned in previous posts are also good.  newegg.com is definitely top notch but they do not ship internationally; they only ship in the U.S. and, I believe, maybe to Canada now.  So, as you mentioned, the location of the buyer may limit his choices since some of the sources mentioned limit their shipping to certain countries.

I see the same problem on the 'Car' forums, where someone new will come on and ask where to buy this part or that part and they are in Australia, India, Egypt, etc.
Telling them where to get the part in the US is pretty pointless.

As for correcting my speech or terminology, this is actually a Computer help forum not an English Class.  Eh?
Mail Order is still a commonly used term for Email as well as Snail Mail.

However, you are still liable to be corrected. Best to get used to it, and show your fellow users the courtesy of trying to communicate as clearly as you can. Even if you are a "PC tech" with 75 years experience.
