What User used Linux ? ?
Someone in an article you quoted ? ?
If so i didn't read the article...
Sorry for my oversight. Here is one. He fixed the problem, but he does not know how he did it.

The simple answer  is: XP install requires a small bit of hard drive space during setup initialization. RAW space will work.  The user had used all the drive space with Linux.
RULE: Never install Linux on a hard drive without leaning some bit of RAW space.
 Otherwise it is a PITA to go back to XP.

There was NOTHING in this discussion about a messed up Linux partition until you introduced it from one of your searches on this issue...

On top of that the insult mentioning a debilitating illness was totally uncalled for...
