    Word & Excel Problems
    « on: February 01, 2012, 04:49:35 PM »
The top of the page does not show that line where it tells you were you are.  In Excel I have to delete the line because you can't go up there to change it.  Also in Excel all the lines at the bottom (of Home, Insert, etc) where it says Line , Adjustment...they are all grayed out in Word also.  Using Word & Excel 2010.  I am on Windows 7.

Is there a way to add the line through MS????

    Thanks!

It helps a lot if you provide more details.
    What computer do you have?
Did you change the Video Graphics card?
When did this problem start? Have you tried different screen resolutions?
Does the problem show in other programs.?
Can you use the maximize and restore to change the size of the windows?

The file you attached shows nothing unusual.  Can you post a screen capture of your Word and Excel files which you feel do not appear normal?

It will not load .exl files.  The word file does not show the top where you can make changes and the names under the icons at the top are gray and you cannot click on them.

What is "it"?  What are .exl files?

There are no icons in your Word document.  Again, we need a screen capture image from you to show what you're talking about.

To capture a screen print, you need to press the Print Screen button on your keyboard.  The button name may be abbreviated on the button.  Pressing the button captures the whole display on your monitor.  To capture an application window only where the window may be less than maximized, pressing Alt + PrintScreen will capture only that application window.  This puts the screen capture in the clipboard (the temporary memory area).  Then, you need to paste it into an image editor and save it as a .jpg or some other image format file.  Paint can be used for this.  And, while you have the image displayed in your image editor, you may crop it and save that smaller cutout to further limit the size of the image you'll post in the forum.  You can also use your image editor to draw circles or boxes around certain parts of your image or put arrows on it pointing to specific elements and perhaps add text to further enhance the effectiveness of your image in conveying a point in the forum.

A screen shot is either a BMP or GIF file or some other image file format.
Use paint to make a screen shot. Or your favorite photo/image editor.

You mean you could not post it in the forum?  Please explain how you were trying to do that?  Did you try to attach it in the same manner you attached the .doc file?

I saved as bmp, but too large.  Went to Phixr to reduce it but cannot save it as bmp there.

Try jpg or png.  And, as I said, you can cut out part of the original image and create a smaller image if necessary.
