    « on: February 04, 2012, 06:12:08 PM »
Hi, i recently upgraded to windows vista home premium and my sound has stopped working.
it was at one point after upgrading but after restarting it stopped working and i have no idea how to fix it.
i've uploaded an msinfo report and dxdiag, please advise.

you don't tell us what you upgraded from. But you may need to update drivers for the audio card and or the chipset drivers for the new O/S.  try the audio card drivers first. What is displaying for the audio card in "device manager"?truenorth

i used to have windows xp (x86) SP3
        the hardware says it's fne
it doesn't report a problem but
        still no sound.
Ok so can i just install generic audio drivers like realtek or something
because the one that comes with my motherboard is sound max
and hasn't been updated for a while. as with the intel chipset drivers,
can you guide me on where to find the right ones please

        Download speccy

        http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard

After the file finishes downloading, double click on it to start the installation. Follow the prompts until the installation is complete.

Once you've finished installing, start the program. At the top of the page click on File > Publish Snapshot. You will be asked if you wish to proceed. Click Yes, then Copy to clipboard. Now right click on any empty space in your reply box and click Paste.
