What is wrong??
« on: September 18, 2005, 06:44:38 AM »
I have an HP Pavillion about 2yrs old 2.6Ghz p4, 1gig of ram, 6800oc video card. About 1 week ago my wife was telling me that the screen pixelized and the computer shut down. It happened to me this morning, and now the computer will not fully reboot and just shuts down. Anyone have a clue what could be the problem?

Just to clarify what i am talking about, the screen has a bunch of color squares all over it before it shuts down.

Check all system fans and heatsink connections.

:o, I will check your suggestion, but if it is not an overheating issue, would ram be the next test in your opinion?

Check for loose hardware components next.

You can test the RAM later on.

Thanks, the 6800 card is a power hog, so the heat issue sounds very logical.
