If your system won't boot to a cd or dvd it is invariably due to one of three reasons:

    1) The optical drive is not the first device in the bios boot order or

    2) The cd or dvd is either bad, not bootable or not an original OS disc or

    3) The optical drive itself is bad

    Hey jammatras,

What you can try is do an upgrade installation. For this you need to insert the Windows 7 DVD in your CD/DVD drive and then run the installation from your windows Vista desktop.

You need to go to Start-> Computer -> Right click on your CD/DVD drive -> Left click on Autorun -> Select Upgrade.

If there is no Autorun then you need to go to your CD/DVD drive and double click on setup.exe.
