    uninstalling mint
    « on: May 14, 2012, 11:07:59 AM »
I have a laptop with a duo boot of Linux Mint and Windows 7. I would like to uninstall Mint. I have the mint cd and just need a little guidance so I don't uninstall the Window 7 along with the Mint.
Linux is over windows 7 in the boot start up.
Any help would be appreciated as I am a novice in this.
    Thank you in advance.

Did you Google "Uninstall Linux Mint"
There are some videos . But it depends on how it was installed.
Do you recall which boot manage is in use?

Sorry, I didn't do it myself. I will google this and ask the person who installed it that question.

You will need a Windows 7 DVD or a Windows 7 repair disk.

To make a Windows 7 repair disk, in Windows 7 click start and type create a system repair disc in the search box and press enter. Insert a blank CD and follow the prompts on the screen.

Once you've made your  disk you can delete Linux Mint. Click start and type diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press enter. This will open disk management. In disk management, look in the bottom pane. Your hard drive should be listed there as Disk 0. You should see all of the partitions on your disk there. Right click on the Linux Mint partition and delete it. It should show as unallocated space now.  If you want to go back to using that hard drive space for Windows 7, right click on your C: partition and choose Extend volume. Extend it into the free space.

Now insert your Windows 7 DVD or Windows 7 repair disk and restart the computer. The computer should start from the disk. Choose command prompt from the list of recovery options. At the command prompt type         bootrec /fixboot and press enter. Then type bootrec /fixmbr and press enter. Remove the disk and restart.
