    DynSite Version 1.11
    « on: September 24, 2005, 10:54:19 AM »
I'm doing a My Documents backup and I discovered a file in there called dedicated.cfg . It seems to be linked to, or have been downloaded from, this site:  http://noeld.com/dynsite.asp .

I know it's a dynamic IP address updater, I'm just wondering what the ramifications might be if I remove it.

What do you require it for?

Are you certain it belongs to that program? A .cfg could as well belong to a game.

I actually have no idea what it's for, Rap. And I have no evidence it has anything to do with that program. I'm probably mistaken in my original assumption.

I was just surprised to see  a cfg. file in My Documents - I always thought they were placed elsewhere and thought it might be something sinister.

Rename the file and continue operating for a few days to make sure everything (programs) work as they should. If everything checks out OK, delete it.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Did you uninstall the updater program yet?

No. What exactly is an IP updater program, anyway?

Possibly used for on line gaming or a P2P program. Most .cfg files can be opened with notepad or wordpad. Scan through it see if you can determine what it belongs to.

Ask the kids, Doofus. They're bound to know more.

Doesn't necessarily have to be an IP Updater. Whatever the heck that is, anyway.

That's it !  Nice solution, 2k !  I opened it up in Notepad and discovered it's Punkbuster (and even I know what that is, Rap.   ;) )

Delete it. See how long it takes for the kids to figure out.

I'd love to have kids, I would bug them until their breaking point is reached. And then I'd rebuild them from the ground up in my perfect image.

I don't know what Punkbuster is, but if it will annihilate punk rock, I want a copy. ;D

It prevents spotty STD ridden teenagers from using cheats in games.
