    I can't find an answer to this...i tried to update MSE's virus/spyware definitions, but it failed due to an internet/connectivity problem. Help, please ?

    Have you resolved the problem sherry? MSE updates automatically by default unless some specific error codes or messages is given. Try this thread from Microsoft regarding MSE not updating.
