Windows Explorer supports fractional bytes...
« on: August 08, 2012, 02:32:33 AM »
I was looking at the size of a folder... then I noticed something strange...

notice the .00 part of the size value. Can I put .5 of a byte on my MP3 player? :P

Gave me a bit of a chuckle at least.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Interesting! Does it show fractions only for the MP3 player properties or other folders etc too?

Nope, only the MP3 player "drive", I checked with my hard drives right after because I would have thought I would have seen it before.

I don't know the internal workings of how the devices interface with the system but it seems like somewhere down the line the value is being formatted with decimals.

I find it hard to believe any modern storage device uses fractions of a byte...
