Internet running slow

Whats causes a slow internet. Page down loads take forever. Often time the computer freezes. Video is very choppy too.......how do i fix this stuff !?!?!?!?!?!?!

With all due respect to soybean, there is nothing that ccleaner does that effects performance.

You said the pages load slowly then you said the computer freezes. Those are two entirely different issues. Please take your time and explain IN DETAIL exactly what is going on. Also, has it always been this way or did it start recently? If the latter, what is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Yes, there is.  An accumulation of browser cache can affect browser performance.  CCleaner clears browser cache and, if the user uses multiple browsers, clears cache for all browsers at one time.

I've never thought of using a third party app to empty the cache, but okay.... And I think it's worth asking if we're talking about more than one browser, don't you?

Re the last==while it CAN be a cause of the O/P's problem i highly doubt it in this case.To me it is obvious that this is something new that the poster is experiencing. I don't believe they would have been enduring a slow ISP speed and suddenly decide to worry about it. However having said that welcome aboard and hope you find your time here mutually enjoyable.truenorth

To Allan:

I ll give you and example. When I go to webpage and clink on a link. The new link will open up in a window and load the page and all its data pictures more links etc. I may click on another link within that window and the new window will start to open and some data will load but not completely and then the page will just freeze. No new hardware or software hase been added recently........help ...

Does this happen with all browsers or only one? If you haven't tried other browsers, please do. And which browser are you using now?

I am using the Firefox/ Mozilla.

try disabling all add ons in firefox. I tried firefox for a while and it worked great a first but it got worse over time and even tried to download malware to my computer. i think it was the add-ons { they must not vet them proper}

I ran CCleaner,  Malwarebytes,  Superanti-Spyware, Microsoft Security Essentials, now you want me to disable Mozilla/Firefor Add-ons ??   Sure......... but where do I start ??

Before you disable anything, try Internet Explorer or any other browser as a test. Do you have the same problem with other browsers as with Firefox?
