AOL shortcut icon not working

My AOL shortcut icon spins for about 30 seconds and stops but AOL never loads.Same with start menu and taskbar shortcuts. Tried reinstalling AOL and when install is complete AOL starts up and says welcome then disappears. Get small box in corner saying AOL has encountered a problem and will now try to reconnect. Tries for about a minute and then nothing. Any ideas what's wrong here?

Try re-setting your router/modem by powering them down for 30 seconds...power up and wait at least 2 minutes to try your connection.

Thanks but tried that. My internet access(for other apps) works fine.It's the AOL software that won't load or stay loaded.
