    CD won't play
    « on: June 25, 2013, 12:22:12 PM »
I purchased a new, brand new in package w/ wrapping Nanci Griffith cd and when it would not play in computer but would on JVC stereo system exchanged it for another new cd.  Real Player ( old version ) could read song list but not play. Upgraded and now can't read song list. OK go to windows media ( system Dell xps 11 mos. old, 8 meg memory, windows 7 home prem. )  all it does is open, give me gibberish across top of screen and tries to play but nothing happens. OK to I-Mesh. Nope no luck. What do I need to play this? I listen to music more at my computer than at the stereo so please help.

If it plays OK in another computer, possibly the optical drive in the computer is suspect.

Drive plays other cd's games and media.  This CD just won't play in computer. Have downloaded codec updates,  Imesh can now read song titles but won't play, at least can't hear. Play bar moves but no sound and drive keeps restarting, only on this cd though.

Drive could be OK on data disks but still crap out on audio CDs. Or CD could be copy protected. (These will not play in computer drives)

To Salmon      it must be copy protected, I discovered it was an AF3 filter codec  and downloaded that, no help so it must be copy protected as you say.
