    3 Different Printing Programs not Opening Until Reboot
    « on: August 07, 2013, 09:48:29 AM »
    The issue is I have a few programs that refuse to work at random times until you reboot the computer once or twice. These programs are all graphic design programs for engraving or specialized printing(wire labels, terminal block labels). The programs are VisionPro7, Weidmuller M-Print Pro, and Brady Labelmark 5. All manufactures of these programs say they are compatible with this computer.

    The computer is a dell desktop running 64-bit windows 7.

    Is you 64  bit Windows 7 up to date?
    Please provide the name of the printer.
    Does the printer always work with other programs?
    Do you get error messages? If so, please post.

      All updates have been installed from Dell and Windows. There are 3 model printers one for each of those programs. The VisionPro uses a Pheonix 1212 engraver. The Weidmuller MPrint uses a Weidmuller PrintJet Pro . The Brady uses a Brady BP-PR300.

      These printers are only used within those programs, and at times will function fine. But every couple days when we boot up they will not open. A reboot or two will usually resolve it, but my boss is on me to fix this because it is wasting time.

      There are not any error messages that show up on the screen, but there are a couple of errors that show up in the log. They do not seem to correspond with trying to open one of these programs, but the show up in the event log a few times per day.

      Application errors:
      ==================
      Error: (08/07/2013 09:40:26 AM) (Source: WinMgmt) (User: )
      Description: //./root/CIMV2SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 990x80041003

      System errors:
      =============
      Error: (08/07/2013 09:40:40 AM) (Source: NetBT) (User: )
      Description: The name "<DOMAIN>   :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address <IP1>.
      The computer with the IP address <IP2> did not allow the name to be claimed by
      this computer.

      Just in case it isn't obvious, I replaced the actual domain name and the 2 different IP addresses with the tags in <>.

      Thanks for the details. Maybe somebody else can understand it.
      Some other questions.
      All of these printers are on the same computer?
        If so, is USB the interface used? USB has its own issues.
      Or, is there some networking used to get these printers online?
        If the Domain server fails to connect, would that cur off a printer?
      Or, does each printer connect via an Ethernet cable to a router?

      A common problem with Windows is failure to log into a network in a timely manner.  Sorry, I don't know the remedy for this. The standard procedure is to reboot. You may have already mentioned that to your boss.  :)

        The Weidmuller and Brady are USB and the Pheonix 1212 is ethernet. It has its own separate program to connect to the engraver and copy the drawings to the controller.
