Firefox 24 Released
« on: September 19, 2013, 09:45:55 AM »

NOTE: There is a bug in this release which may prevent you from opening a new tab from the tab bar (double-click or plus sign). I have reverted to version 23 for now.

Thanks for the warning.. I will stick with 23 as well. Interesting though that this bug wasnt worked out before release since this is a frequently used feature in which during testing it should have popped up. I wonder if it has anything to do with inadequate testing on a specific platform such as Windows 8 only has this bug etc.

On other boards I've seen it reported that some folks with the same issue say that running FF without add-ons solved the problem for them. Seems there's a conflict with one or more popular add-ons. Personally, the upgrade isn't important enough for me to play with it right now. I'm sure there'll either be a fix or the offending add-on(s) will soon be identified.

Haven't had any issues with creating new tabs myself, either at work or at home with FF24.  I only use the "Adblock Plus" and "Switch to tab no more" extensions.  I usually just open new tabs with ctrl+t or type in my search or address and press alt+enter though rather than clicking, but I just tries it and it does work for me.

I have just updated to 24.0, and I am having no trouble creating new tabs by double clicking the tab bar. I am running a mixed bag of addons.

It appears Google Toolbar is the (or at least one) culprit. I'll pass on 24 in favor of Google Toolbar

Going back to an older version as we speak...

Never tried Lite (I was using the old Google Toolbar with a compatibility app). Just installed Lite, upgraded to FF24, and everything is good. Thanks CC :)

I switched to Lite when Google Toolbar search history didn't work anymore.  Only problem with search history is that it's not kept in the order you did the searches, the order seems to be random.  But, start typing in the little box & it will find it.  Won't actually go to Google until you click "Search" button.  Searches seem to stay forever, if you never clear history.

I never had a problem with search history. Regardless, I'm glad you posted about LITE. Thanks again.

Well, so far the only thing I don't like in Google Lite is that it doesn't offer suggestions as you're typing in the search box as the full Google toolbar does.
