    BSOD stop error: 0x0000001e
    « on: November 27, 2013, 04:15:15 AM »
Not getting BScreens too often, perhaps once every few days. But this is the stop error I get:

    stop error 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80002e86445, 0x0000000000000000, 0xffffffffffffffff)

I can't upload the dump files on here.

    Thank you.

    Download BlueScreenView:
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

I hope it's evident from these what the issue is. Thanks again.

The errors all indicate a bad driver or a memory issue.

      1) Have you recently updated any drivers?

      2) Is Windows Update set to allow driver updates? If so, disable that immediately.

      3) Open Device Manager. Are there any yellow or red symbols?

      4) Let's check the ram: download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility.

        1) It's a new computer for me I bought it from someone on GumTree. So I must have installed a lot of new drivers for the old HDs I put in, wireless network card, monitor.

        2) It was set to automatically update but I'm not sure where to check for the driver updates part specifically.

        3) I checked through the device manage and all the device subdivisions and couldn't see any yellow or red symbols.

        4) I will do that now!

        1) I don't know what that means (you installed a lot of new drivers for the old HDs you put in). Please explain.

        2) Open Windows Update and change the preferences to only install critical updates.

        3) So this is a computer you purchased from someone. For all we know it always had problems. Your best bet is to format and install an OS from scratch.

I just plugged the hard drives in and next time I turned on the computer it installed automatically.

They are internal hard drives I took from my other computer.

When I received this machine it seemed like the previous owner had just done a clean install.

Should I find the model of the HDs and see if there's an updated driver?

Quick time out here...did these other drives have Windows installed on them ?

Because that would certainly explain why this is happening...

Yes I was running a different version of win 7 on my old computer so it was probably installed on one of the drives.

You cannot take the hd from one system and put it in another and expect it to work properly. You need to format and reinstall the OS.

You cannot move a HDD with Windows installed on it and expect not to have problems...period.
This has been true since before Win XP came out.
If you need the data from the other HDD's either hook them up externally...or connect them as a slave drive.

How would I go about connecting them as a slave drive? If I just copied over some personal files and remove them (the old drives) would everything be ok?

              Slave Drive Tutorial...

NOTE: For clarification...if they are hooked up as  slave drives the system will no longer try to boot from them...which is what you want.
Once you have retrieved what is needed they can be formatted and used for extra storage space.

Back again guys. Unfortunately not good news. I removed the 2 old HDs I put in and left in the main drive that came with the computer.

After a couple hours of using it I got a new error:

PCdoc: Yeah I moved all the files I needed from the drives and disconnected them. Not planning on hooking them up again.

patio: There was one yellow ! for an "unknown device" in a USB slot which turned out to be my external harddrive. I've unplugged it now and will let you know if I get any more BSoD's.

Do you think this could have been the reason? It usually works most of the time, and works on boot, just sometimes after using the computer a while it becomes unrecognised?

I think you did not understand the question. When you have not hooked up the drives and turn on the machine, do you still get Blue screen errors???

Yes I still get blue screen errors when I have not hooked up the drives. If you're meaning before I even attempted to hook them up, I didn't get any errors, but I didn't really use it long enough to know for sure if I would have gotten an error or not.

After removing those drives, check all connected wires etc if they are properly fit, they should not be lose. Especially RAM.
