    Several problems with my computers
    « on: March 01, 2014, 04:55:19 PM »
Problem 1: (Windows 7) This has only been happening recently in the past 2 days. I'm having a problem where my computer would get random lag spikes every 30 seconds or minute. When these lag spikes happen, FPS drops significantly and sound begins to stutter.

Problem 2: On my Logitech K330 Keyboard (wireless), I'd get random moments where the keyboard would stop working for a while (around 10-20 seconds). After the delay, several of the keys I pressed while it was not working would activate.

Problem 3: On my laptop, (Windows 8 ) I have a much more irritating problem where the computer freezes for around 5-15 seconds every 20-30 seconds or so. When I type on Microsoft Word while it is frozen, the words appear after the laptop is back to normal. However, backspace does not work while the laptop is frozen.

Any solutions to these problems would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Can you just do one thing at a time?
    First, where do you live?
Are you in an area that has strange things going on? Are you in area 51? At the south pole? Under a massive radar facility? A Mexican AM radio station running a megawatt?

The kinds of problems you have suggest environmental issues.

Um... I don't think there are any strange things going on per say... Currently live in Seattle, Washington near the University of Washington.

OK. Let's look at this. Lag is common in network activity over the internet. What kind of internet do you have? DSL? Cable? Fiber optic?
Are you playing an on-line  game when the lag happens?
How old is your modem and or router?

Do others share your  internet connection?
What kind of AV protection do you ave?

This is a lack of responsiveness. It is not lag.

I would perform full checks on all the hard disk drives in question and perform standard maintenance.

When you mention, "full checks," how exactly do you mean this? I am not extremely computer savvy, but I do try to maintain my computer by deleting unnecessary programs and compressing the hard drive occasionally.

If you right-click on a drive in My Computer and select Properties, there should be a "Check Now" button on the Tools tab. That will allow you to perform a disk check.
