Windows 7 suddenly slows down and everything on my laptop is unresponsive. Help.

I use my computer for multi purpose. Gaming, browsing net, documenting.
My laptop is two years old Acer Aspire 5535 running on Windows 7 Ultimate. Processor AMD Athlon Dual-Core, 1900 Mhz. RAM is 2GB.

Everything was fine last night. I haven't downloaded anything since last last last night (and it was a video from youtube via YTD). I turned off my computer last night and it started installing updates and let it finished.

After work, I opened my laptop. It was still functioning well. Then the game became unresponsive so do other opened application and brower. I restarted it. I have noticed that it took longer before it started. Nothing changed. It was much slower after I restarted it. I don't know what to do. I restarted my laptop for like 3 times now.

I left it open for an hour. And it seems to speed up a bit. So I took my chance by exploring my computer. There are no unusual program installed. Drive C has 47% free memory and D has 99% free memory. I have checked the notifications and found that it has 2 important notifications:

Turn on Windows Defender
Find an antivirus program online

So I pressume that it is a virus that is ruining my ruined day. I opened Avast! FREE ANTIVIRUS saying You Are Protected (ironic). I tried to Full System Scan. But it is not progressing. Still at zero percent at the same file.

I clicked the noti that says Windows Defender and brought me in system32 folder. I'm stuck, How do I 'on' it. And another observation, while scrolling down at system32 folder, I found a Hangover (2009) folder. WEIRD! I also found a video clip named WINOLDAP, I hope I'm wrong but I interpreted it as Windows Holdup.

Just now. A dialog box appeared in Avast! saying something like a malware attack. And it closes quickly so I haven't got a chance to capture it. Please help it is getting scary. I have lots of important files.

By the way, any solution that requires the OS CD is useless. I don't have it. I never had it. This laptop is just a gift.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

Let's run some scans to make sure that your computer is clean.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• It should update automatically if the computer is connected to the internet.
• Click on Threat Scan and click on Scan Now.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete make sure all the infections have "quarantine" selected in the Action box.
  
• Click on "Apply actions" You may be asked to Restart your computer to completely remove the infections.
  
• When disinfection is completed you can click on "Copy to Clipboard".
  
• Paste the log in you next reply (CTRL+ V)
