What happened to Backup and Restore.

It is not like it used to be.  In Windows 8.1 the Backup and Restore features have changed. Mostly for the better. Here is a shot bit from the MS site:

In previous versions of Windows, you could use Backup and Restore to back up your files or create and use a system image backup or repair disc. Windows 8.1 gives you choices about how you can recover your PC and back up your personal files.
Please read the rest of the link. Now it should be easier to make frequent backups of your whole system or any part of it.  Note the OneDrive service  can be an important part of any backup plan.

OneDrive (previously SkyDrive, Windows Live SkyDrive and Windows Live Folders) is a file hosting service that allows users to upload and sync files to a cloud storage and then access them from a web browser or their local device.

The service offers 15 GB of free storage for new users.[23] Additional storage is available for purchase.[24]
Initially, the service provided only 7 GB of storage and, for one year, an additional 3 GB of free storage to students.[25] Users who signed up to OneDrive prior to April 22, 2012 were able to opt-in for a limited time offer of 25 GB of free storage upgrade.
To make full use of any cloud service you need a good broadband connection. If not, you would need n external hard drive attached to your local network.
 :)
EDIT: Other services also offer free 25GB on line. To find them just google:

Features and space vary a lot. Read the details carefully. And you can have fee accounts with different companies, if you want to.  :D
