why does Facebook suddenly look wrong on my mobile phone?

when facebook loads it looks all wrong. its just a list of my messages, notifications & friend requests. no icons, no colours, no newsfeed & i cant get 2 any other facebook page!
it was like this most of yesterday...but then went back to normal in evening...probably 8 or 9pm onwards? then i noticed around 2 or 3pm  today its like that again!
i didnt do anything different last night or today & usually no problems on my Samsung mobile so dont know why its happening.
i can go on other internet sites, the only problem is mobile facebook.
btw i dont have a facebook app. i just visit the website like i would on my desktop computer.
i know people dont seem to talk about mobile internet on here but didnt know who to contact.
can anyone help me?

yes.
however sometimes the Facebook layout is normal, so im not sure if switching on/off fixes it or its just a coinsidense.

if switching my mobile off then on fixes the it, what could be cause the problem?

switching off/on does seem to fix it. however sometimes after many hours or days it seems to fix its self!

wether it fixes its self or i switch my mobile off/on to fix it, either way it doesnt stay fixed. after a while it goes back to the same problem!
which makes me wonder whats causing the problem? & how can i get it to stay fixed?

the mobile is a Samsung Galaxy Y.

i've always had a Facebook bookmark on the phone, so if i want to go on FB i jusr use that.
i alao didnt wany my phone beepinfg everytime i got a FB message/comnent! i alsoso didnt want type of notification showing on my phone...such as say a number 4 on the FB icon to say 4 thinga have happened.
switched.my phone off & on works sometimes, but sometimes it doesnt. in that case either hrs or even upto 2 days later it suddenly goes back to normal of its own accord!
however visiting any ither websites are always normal.

does anyone know whats going on?
would finding an FB app solve the problem?

FB and other sites adjust the display to fit your device.
The details of how this is done are beyond my knowledge.

Mobile Responsive Design
 Mobile response is not a built-in feature of HTML.
Or, to put it another way, it takes some additional something to make it work.
If you use the App recommended by FB, the problem should go away.
An alternative is to try another browser that is smarter.

oh i see.
its odd that ive used my FB bookmark & whatever browser my mobile came with for about 18 months with no problems & i suddenly need a different browser or the FB app!
btw what browser should i try?

is that a genuine/safe way of going on FB? is it still owned by FB but just a basic layout version?

That is safe but I'd still recommend using the app - Facebook will put way more time into that than they will into their mobile sites which are barely used.  There should be somewhere to disable notifications in the app if that bothers you.

how do i find the FB apo i need?
i've only got Galaxy Apps on my mobile. when i search "facebook" there's a long list of FB apps!

Does it not also have the Google Play Store anywhere?  The official Facebook app will probably have some sort of icon denoting it being official.  Also look for the most popular one and check reviews within the store.

Mobile websites like Facebook's are only designed for people using extremely outdated devices, not Android smartphones where the app is available.  As such they are not actively updated and don't have nearly as many features as the actual app does.
