    USB HDD docking station
    « on: February 23, 2016, 06:08:30 PM »
I am looking for a USB HDD docking station that can hold 2 or more hard drives, Hold 2.5 and 3.5 inch, clone and read. Any suggestions, i have found several but i don't know if the ones that read hard drives clone or if the ones that clone hard drives can also just be used to read them.

The docking station has nothing to do with ability to clone drives...
There are software apps to do that.

i know you can do it that way but i also see some docking stations that will clone without being hooked up to a computer. And even when hooked up to a computer they clone without 3rd party software. my question is will these docking stations work if i just want to hook up one drive and read it? here is an example Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA Dual-Bay USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station with Offline Clone Function for 2.5 Inch & 3.5 Inch HDD SSD SATA (SATA I/ II/ III) Support 2x 6TB & UASP, Tool-free

Personally I wouldn't trust a docking station to clone a disk.  I'd much rather use software that I can tweak and see exactly what it is doing/get information about problems during cloning.

Personally I just rig them up internally with SATA cables but yeah, a basic dock would also work.
