run time error

Please lend a hand to a computer novice.

When I try to login  to the internet I am getting  the following message.

Microsoft visual C++ runtime error

Program C:Program files\internet explorer\Iexplore.exe


What is going on and can any help me?

I am trying to download a trial version of microsoft office 2003 and when i submit info it goes to a page that says server error in' / officestandardedition' application and under it is a runtime error. i use windows xp

Thanks for the advice. It turns out it was a Google search engine that had corrupted  or miscomunicated with my computer. Any way problem solved.
