144 HZ cable + monitor help
    « on: May 27, 2017, 06:14:43 PM »
I bought a cheap 144hz cable (dual DVI) to work with my ASUS VG248QE. It shows that it is set up to 144hz in nvidia control settings but when I go into the windows monitor settings it shows that it is at 60 hz. When I turn it up to 144hz, the quality gets really bad and eventually it automatically turns itself into 60 hz again. What might be the problem and can you recommend any other cables from amazon/ebay UK that will actually work for me if that is the problem? Thx.

Also, I get a notification from my monitor every time that I put it into 144hz which says that I need to plug-in a DVI-D cable even though I am using one.

You need a Dual Link DVI-D Cable. If the monitor is complaining, then the cable very likely is not.

Alternatively if the monitor has a port you can use an HDMI cable (Must be 1.3) or a DisplayPort Cable.
