Fake PayPal phising fraud
« on: September 23, 2017, 10:11:25 AM »
Yes, it is still going on.

 * *Note to moderator. More this to  another area if you want to.**

I keep getting the same phish again and again. I refuse to give them my Social Security Number.  Only a very few companies require that and PayPal is not one.

One of the most common phishing scams involves sending an email that fraudulently claims to be from a well-known company (like PayPal). ... Forward the entire email to [email protected]. Do not alter the subject line or forward the message as an attachment. Delete the suspicious email from your inbox.

Notice the explicit instructions as to how to report. I did not know how to until I saw this. The phiser even hijacks the way you try to respond to the e-mail. It is a
very wicked design to device and defraud.  >:(

Why have you not blocked them in your email app yet ? ?

Gmail does that for me, or rather it puts them in a "Spam" folder and deletes them after 30 days.

That you know this tells us exactly why you are such a perfect mark for them.

It would be a very incompetent phisher who directed you to the genuine PayPal site, wouldn't it?

How?
It is the most clever phish I have ever seen.
If I block PayPal.com I will never get legit messages coming from the real PayPal.

It's true that if you block paypal.com it would block any legitimate messages coming from paypal.

But blocking the sender of the message would not block paypal, because it's not coming from paypal.
