Mouse Problem
« on: December 15, 2005, 01:13:32 PM »
My system is an Asus ARV600 MB with Athlon 1600+ CPU and 3 RAM [512 + 256 +256].
My Ps2 mouse stutters- it works fine for several seconds and then it stops for a fraction of a section and then starts working again. I bought a Benq cordless mouse and this works for a while and then the cursor stops. It starts again for a few seconds if I press any mouse button, and then stops again in a few seconds.
I have upgraded my video card drivers [Radeon 9550]and installed WinSP2, but it makes no difference.
Any suggestions?

Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Display.
    3. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.
    4. Click the Troubleshoot tab.
    5. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider two notches to the left of Full (the Disable all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations setting).
    6. Click OK, and then click OK again.
    7. Test the mouse movements again.

Sometimes this will also work for games that cause problems.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

I tried changing the settings as suggested. This made no difference in the cord mouse stuttering or the Benq cordless turning off until a button is pushed and then only working for a few seconds.

No- I get no display freezing or problems with my keyboard. I tried a RAM test using Sandra and no problems were indicated. I will try a few RAM combos to see if that makes a difference.

    Any other suggestions?

Try the PS2 mouse in safe mode.
