Computer will not start up
« on: December 19, 2005, 10:52:34 AM »
Hi,

A couple of days ago , I started up my laptop, but the screen stayed black and nothing else happened. My dad got it working yesterday somehow, he said that he just held the power button down for longer, but today I tried it again and my laptop just won't start up.

Any help is greatly appreciated. ;)

More info on your system, OS, and any problems prior to this and someone will be along shortly to assist.

I have an IBM Thinkpad and I use Windows XP Proffessional.
Problems prior to this were that my computer would shut down if it wasn't plugged in, and it would come back on by itself if I turned it on hibernate or standby mode.

Hope that helps.

It's very possible that laptop battery is getting ready to take a dump...try the machine with just the AC power and see if it does the same thing.
