Just bumping this.

Maybe it's just me - but when I have a question (here, MrExcel.com, etc.) I like to do a quick Search and make sure that it hasn't been answered already. (Even more importantly, that *I* haven't asked it already!!!!)

From what I recall, The built-in SMF Forum search is disabled because it seriously degrades server performance.

an alternative is to use google with site:computerhope.com/forum, eg:

Code: [Select]
site:computerhope.com/forum renaming files
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Yeah that's what I do - although I'd left out the "/forum" bit. That will definitely help.

Alternately, I will keep posting questions that Geek answered in 2011.

Here is my image. Is there another place?

Do not erase, the link is to my own web space.
That works for me with just simple search.

You mean like say the "Forum only search" that literally a few pixels away from where you are pointing in that image?

No, not forum only. That don't work good.
Just search.
Here is a full size image. (Color reduced to lower bandwidth.)

(For a larger image, do a right click and select view image. The image is not on this forum, but is on another site. It might be slow to load. Or maybe gone if tghe site is down.)

Inside this thread, I go to the top of the thread until I see the stuff at the top of the page. The in enter something in the box and click on search. I do not use the search forum only. It does not work well at all.
But the plain search works good. I don't know why.
