My desktop is locked up!!  when starting the widows Millenium flashes and then a message shows up in DOS that reads: The following file is missing or corrupted C:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd

An assist would be appreciated

    Ever thought of updating, W2k runs nice if your computer can hack it.

    i have the disc but when I try to load it goes all the way throught he process and at the end tells me that the program already exists and my only choice is to click OK

      Try this. Boot into safe mode. Start/run/scanregw /fix. After the reboot, start/run/scanregw /opt. Reboot once more.
