    Device Manager showing on boot
    « on: August 02, 2018, 10:20:37 AM »
I recently bought a new (reconditioned actually, but new to me) computer which came with Windows 10.

I've been shutting it down each night.  Each time I boot it again, the Device Manager pops up.  Everything looks normal on it.

I know that some programs that aren't completely shut down will reboot on rebooting the computer.  But those are listed under the inverted caret (show hidden icons symbol) on the right side of the task bar next to the 'people' icon.    But I don't see anything there that looks like the Device Manager.

Is it trying to tell me something?  Is this an error message of some sort?

You can use a program like Autoruns (or something simple like Startup Control Panel https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/startup_control_panel_standalone_version.html) and see which entry is calling for device manager. Then Uncheck it.
