Remove battery for 10 minutes, then reinstall.  With no battery, some settings can be retained.  If there is a CMOS reset jumper, use it.  Read the manual, first.

I removed the (new) battery for 15 minutes and reset the CMOS jumper.  Powered on and am still getting the beep ( a 1 second beep in 2 second intervals).  The mother board manual says that this particular D-LED diagram is:  "Boot Attempt - This will set low stack and boot via INT 19h"
It can't seem to get past the POST.  There's nothing but a blank gray/green screen again.

Have you done a clean install of your operating system yet?

I wish the thing had given me the option.  During the uninstall ( I used the uninstall option in add/remove programs), I received more errors than I could count, (see above) it kept saying it couldn't create Restore/temp file # - it ran pages of this error.  When it was finally complete and prompted me to reboot, it went straight into safemode and as I ran through the safemode options ( 1 through 4) I always ended up at a blank, white screen.  It still wouldn't read from my CDROM so I couldn't do an install anyway.
I just can't figure this one out.

You need to wipe your hard drive & do a clean install.
      http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000186.htm
      This is not difficult.
Get a boot disk here. http://www.bootdisk.com/
Set your floppy as 1st boot device in bios.
Boot with the floppy in A drive.
      format c: <enter>
      put your OS cd in.
      d: <enter>
      setup <enter>
(Or something like that) LOL  :D
(It's been a while for me)

      Silly question.... :-[

I've already visited bootdisk.com and found the boot disk that I need.  They're not much for detailed explanations there.....I suppose I really should know how to do this but I don't want to mess up the computer I'm talking to you with now.
They say to download the file, then use it to make the disk(s) I need.  When I downloaded it, it asks me if I want to "run this software" - I thought this meant that the file would open up and do something to the computer that you open it on.  I'm running WinXP Home - very tempermental....

Do you know if I am able to open it up on this computer without screwing it up too??

Sorry.......I'm just not overly confident at this point.

Also, since the computer came "as is" and has no WinMe disk - I thought I'd put Win98 on it.

When you double click on the file it will create an appropriate floppy disk. You must have a blank floppy in the drive and ready to go. It's real easy. Then just put that disk in whatever computer you like and boot with it in.

GX!_Man, I know it's a long and messy read but do you think this ME computer has a recovery OS partition on it?
Everytime I read this thread my head just spins.
It may be easier to re-partition & format with an XP disk then abort the XP install and then boot with the 98 bootdisk to setup 98.
I'm sure the poster mentioned access to a XP disk in another post.
Fdisk confuses people who don't read the screens.

I know it was supposed to work but..........

I created the floppy, put it in, started it up and it just beeps at me!  I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick that darn football with Lucy  holding it for me!! :-/

Deleting all partitions and making one partition and formatting FAT3w2 is what this poster needs, I agree. Let's see if the darn thing runs.

So is there an XP disk available?

Did you set your floppy as 1st boot device in bios?

The last time I was able to enter CMOS I set the floppy as the 1st boot device

(p.s., I also just found an unopened W2K disk, as well as my old Win98)  Just wanted to put that out there in case they're favorable to WinXp Home

              You have W2k????
Go into bios & set your cdrom as the 1st boot device, save 7 exit, read the screens to do it right.
Re-boot with the W2k disk in the cdrom.
Good times are coming for you. :)
