computer freezes when I go to photo gallery

When I go to my photo gallery & click on to a photo--- the computer freezes & I cannot even shut it down.  Have to unplug it!
Windows 10 HP computer 64 bit.
Any suggestions please?

So it works normally if you just don't use photo gallery? It could be that the photo gallery program is corrupt or something along those lines. I would first of all download Avast! antivirus (Download Here: www.avast.com/en-us/recommend?tvar=oa-4063-a&tag=d6a42e3b-0972-4132-beac-0e0eafc7f7d7) and scan your whole computer just to be sure that it is not caused by some sort of malicious program or virus.

Also, windows updates don't always have the best reputation, so it could be something with the program updates. Report back here once you have done the scan. Let me know if anything is found, we can then proceed from there.

The scan showed that everything was fine.

Computer is still under warranty so I contacted HP.  They went thru computer & said updates were failing. And problem with harddrive.  They are going to replace it.

If it was hard drive your computer would have been slow over all not just Photo Gallery  Don't know what happened! Did you change it?

The warranty co. said it was too expensive to repair so gave me the money back that I paid for computer!  Still using this one until I find a deal on another one.  I just can't do anything with all my pics in this one.   So still scratching my head on this problem.

I don't understand how replacing a hard drive would end up being more expensive than reimbursing you for the money you spend on the thing?

Well, if you need those photos that bad, you could always use a 2.5 inch HDD to USB converter to grab them off of your hard drive from another computer.
