     brencamp.....  Perhaps a bit more history would get you better responses...for example ........  Which O/S are you using ?
    Do you have other operating  optical drives installed?
    Has it ever showed up there .....?
    Is your machine virus free ?

    O/S Win 98. It was showing the drive but I was trying to sort out something else on the computer and I lost it. It is seeing everything else.

       brencamp......  How about going into your device manager and remove the cd-rom ....then reboot and it should reinstall it ....... If you system is not plug and play .....you will have to reinstall the cd-rom drivers
