Install HDDs on Poweredge R710 with perc h700

I'm trying install 3sas drives on the above. They're physically installed and show up in the Bios Config Utility under Unconfigured Physical Disks as  "ready" but pressing f2  for the menu to create virtual discs does nothing. Anyone know anything about this?  Is there something else I need to do first?

Hi from the manual it states

Non Dell certified drives will be blocked. For more information on the benefits of using Dell certified
drives, see the Dell Point of View paper Why Customers Should Insist on DELLTM Hard Drives for
Enterprise Systems.

There is so many different options to configure the controller it maybe better to get a clear plan of what your setup will be.
