    Puran File Recover
    « on: October 03, 2020, 12:32:25 PM »
Is anyone familiar with this software?

I've been using it for a number of years, and have had no bother until now. Before I went to bed I opened it up in order for me to recover data from previously deleted partitions.

I set it to a deep scan and then went to bed. This morning when I got up I couldn't see the popup telling me the amount of recovered files Puran had found, in fact, sometime during the night it shut down automatically.

I started a fresh scan, everything went fine until the progress bar got to a certain position and then the application shut down. I tried several times and got the same result every time.

What other freeware programs are available which I could use as an alternative to Puran where I can scan the disc for deleted partitions?

    Many thanks.

I've got it, but it does not find deleted partitions, only deleted files in existing partitions.

      Hi

First I would make sure the drive is healthy enough to work with. Try Hd Sentinel for this. https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel_professional.php
Is it possible the drive has to many bad sectors and is dropping offline?
There is find and Mount for finding lost partitions.  http://findandmount.com/
Before you run any recovery software always make sure you diagnose the cause of the partition loss.

I got what I wanted, found my deleted partitions using Puran. Took about six hours to scan the disc.

        Thanks to those who replied.
