boot to dos

hi
can anybody tell me how to boot the computer to dos
like in the old computers (im not talking about the boot disks)
and dos will be like another os on the computer

The way I've done it for 2K/XP is to have two copies of the BOOT.INI file, one with Windows as the default O/S, and the other with DOS as the default O/S.  I just have a small batch file to swap in the one that I want to be active at the next boot, and restart the system.
