How to Remove Sign-In Screen from Windows 10
    « on: December 18, 2021, 09:53:03 AM »
I have posted this before and moderators marked it as "solved" even though I responded and said the solution offered did not work for me. So I'll try again....

When I leave my PC on for a while and walk away it goes into sleep mode. When I want to get back into the PC to work there is a sign-in screen that appears. I just need to click on it (without password since I did not create a password for my PC access) and it goes away. I would like it not to appear at all.

On a prior post the solution offered was this:

    1. Click the Start menu and type “netplwiz.” The top result should be a program of the same name – click it to open.
    2. In the User Accounts screen that launches, untick the box that says “Users must enter a name and password to use this computer.”
3 .Uncheck the box "User must use password etc.
    4 . Hit “Apply.”
    5. When prompted, re-enter your password to confirm the changes.
    6. Click “OK” once more. Your password will then be removed, and no need the to sign in now.

The problem is that the User Accounts screen that launches does not offer me a box to untick [see screenshot]. What else can I do?

Just fyi, the staff here does not mark threads "solved" - at least not intentionally. Perhaps you (or one of us) did so inadvertently.

My mistake, then. Perhaps I misinterpreted the "topic solved" at the bottom left-hand corner as being applied to my question in this thread: https://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,182324.msg1011677.html#msg1011677

Be that as it may, any ideas how to solve the issue?  Thanks

Since you don't have a password, the checkbox isn't available.

The setting you want is probably "Require sign-in" under Start->Settings->Accounts->Sign-in options
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Can I suggest disabling "sleep mode"? We have two Win 10 Pro machines with only the screensavers activated after a user specified time. My wife's requires a logon pin on boot or reboot but wakes right up any other time it is running.

I do not have the "require sign-in" option [see screenshot]
