You voud buy both and compare, but that would be hard... :D

I agree with a lot of the opinions here. I have AMD Athlon 64 3700+, and I'm cruising at 2.2 GHz at the same speed that an Intel would at appx. 3 GHz. Apparently, according to the techhie at Frys it's because of higher efficiency than the Intels... but I'll have to look up the exact reason... ;)

Isn't a Athlon 64 3700+ about equivilent to a 3.7GHz Pentium 4?  Also, the reason for this is because AMD processors do more clocks per cycle.  So they can do more processing with less raw power (raw power being what Intel uses).

Frys, Dilbert? A local computer store no doubt?

Define "local". It's about 40 miles, but they have the most comprehensive selection around, and the prices are usually lower than Best Buy or some similar store.

I didn't know the exact equiv. of my AMD. Thanks for the info. I'm now even more proud of my processor! ;D
