need to remove "Genuine Check"?
« on: June 25, 2006, 01:01:21 PM »
On my computer screen there  are 2 symbols, "Genuine Check", botth for Genuine Windows Validation from Microsoft.  When i look under programs I do not find Genuine Check nor do i find it under add or remove programs.  So where is it & should I remove 1 or both?  thanks, dede

Do you have a legitimate copy of Windows?  If so, register it with Microsoft.  If not, unfortunately we cannot help you with the query since it would involve aiding and abetting illegal activity.  ;)
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

I am running a ligit, corp. version of xp, where you arn't prompted to activate or anything, all you do is enter your serial in the box when you instal it. anyways. I tried to instal windows mdia player 11 yesterday, and I was told that I have to have a genuine copy of windows runnig to instal it, which I am! I called the activation place, and the only thing I was told is that I have to buy a new copy then. I don't really want to buy a new copy, but I would like to be able to install programs like windows mp 11, ect. though there probably isn't, I was wondering if there is a legal program you can get, or something yu can do, so my copy of windows can be concidered genuine?I got the corperate edition so I didn't have to deal with this!

    Thanks,

Obviously that is NOT legit and your first tip off should have been that it was a Corportate Edition. That's not to be sold to individuals, and certainly not on eBay for rock bottom prices.
