Norton is expensive, but a lot of newbies like it because it is easy to set up and you don't have to know what you're doing. If you are in that position go ahead. There are other products as well. Windows firewall is OK, but not as full featured or secure as the standalone products. I personally don't use Norton stuff, but a lot of people do.
