epson printer lights flashing alternatly
« on: July 04, 2006, 03:31:42 PM »
Our printer doesn't work at all - the red and green lights are flashing alternately - all the epson website tell me is that I need technical support - well no sh*t sherlock!

It's an epson stylus C44UX - does anyone have any advice??  Oh and I'm on Win 2000, in case it makes a difference.

Hope someone can help, I need the printer desperately and am on the verge of having to go & buy a new one  :(

Tori (Toon Tori cos I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne & someone already usd the name Tori!)

Not user servicable, so if uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software doesn't get it, you need to head to the shop or the store.

Most likely problems are:
  • paper out
  • paper jam
  • toner/ink out
  • print head jammed
  • communication error
...in that order.  You should be able to fix the first three.  You may be stuck with the last two - but try switching off and on again (unplug the power lead completely).
