When I boot my laptop my screen goes white, help??

Hi Folks,

I have an Asus M6000 laptop, less than a year old.  Last night i had had it running for most of the day without any problems but all of a sudden the screen went white.  I simply turned it off.  This morning i turned it back on and it started to boot up as normal with the windows XP sign coming up.  It then went to a blue screen where it said it had to check things.  It ended up truncating some files, i'm not sure which ones as it went very fast trough them.  Then when it finished in that screen it just went white again.

Anyone got any ideas??

Would be very grateful for any help.

Is it still under warranty? It may be time. Try a Linux Live CD to see if it is hardware or software related. Any recent activity, storms, etc. that could account for problems?

This may well be a hardware fault, but those are difficult to sort out on laptops. If it will not boot with the SLAX CD, I would contact the manufacturer for warranty service.

Thanks.  It is still uner warranty.

I just turned it on again and it booted ok.  Ran all srts of virus scans etc once it was up an running so hopefully it all ok, but if it happen again i'll let you know.

Sometimes those things die on day 366.  

Be vigilant about any problems. And run LOTS of diagnostics on the machine.

If it is still under warranty you need to take advantage of that...even intermittent problems can turn into nightmares down the road.
