DX10
« on: August 01, 2006, 01:44:50 AM »
I just wanna know some cool stuff thats gonna be coming with DX10.
Anyone know anything?
I heard nVidia is saying all of their DX10 cards are 100% gaurunteed to work when they are released and shipped.
And I'm thinking about buying a whole new rig, is DX10 worth the wait?

The only reason to buy a card now, is because u want to play games in the summer, while u have time to. Or because its possible that the DX10 cards have been moved back to 2007 to be with Vista, so ud have to wait abt 6 months.

DX10 will have GDD4 memory, wich will allow for higher memory clocks (over 2Ghz). Also, they will all have Pixel Shader 4.0 and its rumored that the ATi cards will have 64 Pixel Pipelines and thus will have far more Shader ops then even now.

Yeah, I heard ATI released their x1950XTX cards with GDDR4 and they're shipping now.
Also heard that AMD bought out ATI. Another thing, heard DX10 cards are supposed to be dramatically decreased in pricing, is this true?

God no, they will cost more if anything.
And the X1900XTX will likely ship with the XT (GT) version at the end of the month.

      I figured.
I actually do still play through the year, so do you guys think DX10 cards are worth the wait for me?
Was planning on getting dual 7900GTX's. All the games I play support SLI so I would be getting the benefit of SLI.
Maybe I misheard, maybe it was DX9 cards are going to be dramatically decreased in pricing.

As long as the game runs faster than 20 FPS (the limit of the eye), it doesn't matter if it's 30 or 300. It's not nessicary to spend all this money on the absolute latest stuff, especially that after a while they'll drop massively in price.

I just want something that will support cod2, bf2, graw, and fear with good FPS on a 21 inch widescreen monitor. you guys think one 7900GTX will do the job?

I have less than that and I can play those games. Well cod2 and bf2, never played those other two.

So you're saying with one 7900GTX I can play those games on all high and on the res. of a 21inch monitor? Is it possible with 1 7900GT?

The native resolution for a 21" monitor is 1920x1440. You CAN play at that resolution with MAX detail, but not much AA or AF, and HDR will become harder.

                  Yep a 7900 Will Handel BF2 grand,

Al tho for smooth Running you want your Game to be going a Least 40 FPS, (which it should on a 7900) thats not because it will look nicer, but when theres allot of action on the Screen at once the FPS can drop by half, so if you want to keep a smooth 25FPS all the time , your Standard fps must be over 40 , if you know what i mean

Standard tv is only 25 FPS , and it does look pretty smooth, but thats partly because its always 25 , when your playing a game and the Frame Rate jumps up and down , you get a headache
