Handheld PC's (HP Jordana)
« on: August 01, 2006, 08:18:56 PM »
I am a big Ebayer when I get bored.
I am looking at an HP Jordana.
Here's a link to a page with a description of an unused one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000J0ND/102-2439389-4714547?redirect=true&v=glance&n=172282
What are pros and cons of these types of products?
I (am 15 and) go to school. I want one of these for typing my homework assignments up.
How many megs of memory (for storage) can these be brought up to?
The auction for this particular model seems like the price will go up fast. Are there any places where I could buy one of these for a low low price? (besides eBay)

Didn't we do this a month or two ago?

Yes and know. I was showing what I wanted to get, but didn't get it. Now I really want to know what people think of these.
I believe they would be useful, especially for school.

So this post, and the last one similar were different. But you mentioned something about the screens on these, have they improved over the years?

These haven't been produced in 5+ years, so there are no improvements.

I wouldn't bother with one of those.

I'd just get a cheap laptop.

Hmmm, I'd like to see you say that directly to all Blackberry users.

I had an HP Jornada 690 for a while before it met with a very unfortunate coffee disaster.  It was a great little gadget, having probably the most usable keyboard that has ever been created at that size.  It was better in many ways that a PDA with a wireless keyboard - it was mroe stable to type on/less fiddly.  I loved it, but at the time they were quite expensive, so i didn't replace it.

If you picked one up cheaply, I don't think you'd be disappointed, unless you're looking for modern features like Bluetooth or wireless built in (I think you could buy expansion cards, but they're probably not worth it).  They tended to be the best litle gadget for spreadsheets, due to the larger screen size, but they were less "pocketable" than most PDAs.
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.
