Can I upgrade Win98 first edition to SE?
« on: August 02, 2006, 12:14:51 AM »
This could be the dumbest question you've ever answered, but I just really need to know if I can do anything with my obsolete WIN98 operating system (none of my programs are compatible, they need minimum of WIN98 SE)  - yet I don't want to spend any money right now . The other option is, bite the bullet and buy a new computer....I know, I know!  But I thought I'd ask, just in case....

Thanks!

Microsoft made a FE to SE upgrade that you might be able to find on eBay, but a version of SE could probably be had for about the same $.

There is no legal and free way to do it however.  ;)

Technically you don't need to buy a new computer, just an operating sysem.

What programs run on 98SE but not 98?
