    What Brand of Computer Do You Own?

    I would like to know which brand is most popular. Along with your choice please explain why you chose it.

    Myself personally, I have owned a compaq (because it was free :)), but now I own a homemade comp. Reason being...its cheaper :-[.

    Please notify me if I have forgotten a company.

      I bought a low end (emachines) - T3422 5/30/06,  very basic with few mods/ graphics card/ 1024 ram / new psu /  very pleased with rest of the oem parts in this computer. Has a celeron D cpu (3.06) which has been just fine.
      Currently; I am just about done ordering all the hardware for a system I am building for my son (AMD this time). I think it is a great experience "trying" to do it myself. If it all goes OK and as planned, I would never buy another shelf computer again. How cool it is to pick your own components and can't wait to see the results!

        for now im using dells and a gateway im slowly saving money up for a custom rig.. dells are ok but the tech support takes for ever to solve a simple problem

        What about HP and Sony?  And, there are many other lesser known brands.  Just last night, a friend told me about Velocity Micro, which is now being sold in some Best Buy stores.  I had not heard of it before then.  Maybe you should have put an Other category in the poll.

        You also missed ACER. Honestly....

        I got an ACER laptop and a homebuild desktop. Both work reasonably well at 1.6GHz, 256 Mb RAM (512 on desktop).

        And both cost less than £500!!!

        I still have my first Acer...i was never able to kill that thing.

        I'm saving ti for the Computer museum. It was one of the original Pentium chips...the one that had a built in math co-proccesser error they didn't discover for almost a year after going to market

          Poll has been updated for all the brands that I have missed. I did not want an "other" category because I wanted to precisely know the brand. So for those of you that choose "other", please state the name of the company.
