What platform?  Windows server? Workstation?  Mac?  Linux?

Try googling "free ftp server"...

Go to library, Google for assistance with that software, go to developer's home page. The possibilities are endless. Please don't expect someone to walk you through setting up an FTP server. There is no point in reinventing the wheel. The information is there.

Now you follow Mark's excellent advice above.  You may want to find out the difference between a "server" and a "client" while you're at it.  :)

Use a free web based email account as ftp storage.

Gmail is pretty large, free, and easy so use , works with POP3 clients like outlook,oe, thunderbird...etc... just send the file to yourself, and set your email client to leave messages on server.

Easy to use, and the price cant be beat. need more space, open more free accounts. All this will cost you is time.
And all you need to access your files from anywhaer globally is the email username, password and a internet connection.

Use a free web based email account as ftp storage.

Then it wouldn't be called "FTP" anymore but "HTTP"..
