No thanx...guess where that data is stored ? ?
On hard drives which as we all know are prone to fail.
I'll keep my data where i know it's safe...backed up regularly with Acronis and burned to DVD.

I think those kind of solutions are quite trustworthy technology-wise, you shouldn't worry about HDD's failing as the data can be recovered and they probably store the data on multiple HDD's. That same doesn't apply for DVD's, though.

Is it possible to recover data from a damaged/broken DVD?

Probably not which is why i make duplicates.
    Stored at another location.
Sounds like overkill but i've been down the disaster road once and that was enough...

You use Acronis True Image, right? Did you pay for that?

    Yes.

I was sold on it the first time i tried it. I believe they had a free trial to buy back then and it wasn't even a week when i decided to go for it.

One thing i have learned however is to use the tool provided to verify the images. I had a Windows Vista backup that refused to restore properly. No great loss however as that Vista build was wonked anyway and no software in the world would have made it behave properly....
