I have recently come across a freeware utility which checks browser bookmarks for duplicates, and lapsed links. It's called AM-Deadlink, found at <http://www.aignes.com/download.htm> and is very useful. It got me wondering it there was something similar that could be used to check for duplicate files. I'm sure that I have put the same file in a couple of folders, but it's tedious to check individual files.

What I'm looking for is a utility which will check for files of the same name in different folders, and if they are of the same size, created on the same day, will report them. Does anyone know of such a utility?

Google is ready and willing to help you with this.  Here's one find, Duplicate Finder 3.0, that came from a search on duplicate file search.  And, there are many more. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=duplicate+file+search&btnG=Google+Search
