questionable file
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:02:08 AM »
I am wondering if anyone would know what the following file is on my computer.  It just appeared one day.  It is a log of some kind but I don't know what.

"msxml4-kb927978-enu.log"

This log is quite long but I can't figure out if it is necessary for my computer or can I delete it?

You need to watch what you're downloading from the Windows Update site. Delete the log and reappraise your updates.

i have my computer set for automatic updates.  Is this what this is - a windows file?  Will it hurt anything to delete it?

It's there as a result of a largely unnecessary Windows update and it's safe to delete.
When using Windows or Microsoft Update, always use the "Custom" option and install only what's necessary to you. Set the "Automatic Update" feature to warn you when updates are ready but not to download or install them.

It's a glitch in removing the .txt file after the security file update has
been installed,  of the recent MS  update KB927978.  You may safely
delete the folder.
